This is the second track, and was an absolutely AWESOME piece, but of course it didn't record, so all we got were the first few minutes of it. Sorry.
So the next several podcasts are going to be recordings from our sojourn to just northwest of Austin, TX, for Burning Flipside. If you want to know more about it, just go to Wikipedia; they have a decent enough article on it. We got to play a LOT, and the ambience definitely prodded us towards our more experimental side. Podcast Summary
The Defenestration Unit is a Houston, Texas, improv group. We play what has been termed "Free Jazz Circus Funk" and "Rorshach Jazz", though these days we just consider it Improvisation, and have been around in one form or another since 1996, though our current lineup solidified in mid-2006. This podcast will feature primarily live recordings, usually posted shortly after they've happened. In this way, those who are unable to experience the music in a live setting, as it should ideally be experienced, can still hear our music. It is improvised on the spot, sometimes using premeditated basslines and melodies as a starting point, sometimes simply spontaneously creating as we go.
